Bloomsburg defeated by Lock Haven in Women's Basketball
Box Score
BLOOMSBURG -The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team lost to Lock Haven, 68-54 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Wednesday. Bloomsburg was led by Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/ Schuylkill Haven), who posted a double-double with 15 points, a career-high 16 rebounds and seven blocks. Lauren Healy (Glenmoore/Owen J. Roberts) added 16 points.
The Huskies were suffocating on defense the first five minutes, taking a 7-2 lead at 14:59 when Shameika Christian (Pittsburgh/Mercyhurst Northeast) went coast-to-coast for an easy lay-in. After Kegerreis hit the front end of a pair of free throws at the 11:37 mark, the Bald Eagles would go on an 11-2 run over the next 4:12 to take a 15-12 advantage. Lock Haven would surge out to an nine-point lead with 1:48 left in the first half, before a Stephanie Rankin (Bloomsburg/Bloomsburg) put-back cut the lead to seven, 28-21, heading into the break.
In the second half, Bloomsburg would heat up, shooting just shy of 50 percent from the field. A Healy three-pointer cut the lead to four at the 15:55 mark, and a three-point play by Kegerreis a few minutes later would cut the lead to three, 36-33. Lock Haven would respond over the next six minutes, though, as the Bald Eagles went on a 9-4 run to push their lead to 47-39 with 9:36 remaining. Bloomsburg would cut the lead to three with 4:52 remaining courtesy of a three-point play by Healy, but that was as close as they would come. Casi Donelan scored six points down the stretch to ice the game.
Bloomsburg will be back in action on Tuesday, January 2nd, when they host Wilmington College.
